Ground Transportation

Need transportation from the Edmonton Airport to Jasper?

Getting to / from Jasper is a challenge as ground transportation is not provided and the Edmonton Airport is approximately 4.5 hours away.  Based on your flight arrival and departure dates and time, you may take advantage of the Ground Transportation arrangements made by FEI Canada.  FEI Canada has made arrangements for limited return ground transportation from the Edmonton Airport to Jasper.  There is a $150 fee (one way, per person) for this service.  The trip to Jasper by bus is between 4.5 and 5 hrs. Return bus departures are scheduled up to 6 - 6.5 hrs prior to flight departures.  See below for the schedule and book your flights to coordinate with one of the scheduled departure times. The SunDog Tour Co. also offers a shuttle service between Edmonton and Jasper.  The cost is $89+GST per person, one way.  There is 1 bus departure leaving the Edmonton International Airport daily at 3:30 p.m. and arriving in Jasper at 8:15 p.m. and there is 1 bus departure leaving Jasper Park Lodge daily at 7:30 a.m. and arriving in at the Edmonton Airport at 12:30 p.m. Call 1-888-786-3641 for more information.

Jasper National Park Fees:

Parking is available at the Jasper Park Lodge at no additional cost; however, you can expect to pay entry fees into Jasper National Park. The following definitions apply to entry and service fee categories (All prices include GST):

Adult: Person 17 to 64 years of age - $8.80
Senior: Person 65 years of age or over - $7.55
Youth: Person 6 to 16 years of age - $4.40
Family/Group: Up to seven people arriving at a national park in a single vehicle or visiting a national historic site together. - $17.60

Passes are non-transferable and are valid for entry only and not for other Parks Canada services or facilities. 

Via Rail

Via Rail operates 3 weekly trips from Edmonton to Jasper (Saturday, Monday and Wednesday).

Edmonton to Japer:

Departs Edmonton: 08:55           Arrives Jasper: 14:05                  Duration: 5 hours, 10 minutes

Jasper to Edmonton:

Directions from the Edmonton International Airport:

  1. After leaving the airport, go towards Edmonton (on the Calgary Trail North Highway #2)
  2. Exit onto Hwy 19 towards Devon
  3. Drive through Devon you will be on Hwy 60, then exit onto Hwy 16 West
  4. You are now on the Yellowhead Hwy The towns you will be driving through are as follows: Entwistle, Edson, Hinton (gateway to the Rockies).
  5. Park gates are approximately 15 miles (25 km) west of Hinton
  6. The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge exit is before the Jasper town site
  7. You will see a sign to turn left and cross over a black steel bridge
  8. Follow the lodge road to the archway, which reads: The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge


Directions from Calgary International Airport:

  1. After leaving the airport you will be on Barlow Trail. Turn right off Barlow onto 16th Avenue (also called Hwy 1)
  2. Stay right on Hwy 1 to Banff or 31 miles (50 km) more to Lake Louise
  3. You are now in Lake Louise, 141 miles (228 km) from Jasper
  4. Leaving Lake Louise, exit onto Hwy 93
  5. Keep your eyes open, because the sign for Hwy 93 is easy to miss. The speed limit is 55 miles/hour (90 km/hr)
  6. At the lights, turn right and follow the signs
  7. The exit for The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is after the town site on your right
  8. You'll cross a black steel bridge and follow the lodge road   


Directions from Vancouver

  1. Take Hwy 1 toward Hope, BC, and take Coquihala Hwy and exit Kamloops
  2. Take Hwy 5 into Jasper and continue through the first set of lights
  3. Follow signs to The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
